Competing as Miss Plano, Waco resident Caroline Carothers was crowned Miss Texas 2016 on Saturday night in Richardson. Caroline will now represent Texas in the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City on Sept. 11.
She is a member of Chi Omega sorority at Baylor and plans on being a math teacher, according to her website.
She succeeds Shannon Sanderford, who as Miss Texas was a Top 10 finalist at the Miss America pageant last year.
