Update May 7: Nine people are dead, including the suspect, and at least seven others are injured after a mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets Saturday afternoon, according to police officials.

The gunman was identified Sunday as a 33-year-old named Mauricio Garcia. The names of the victims have not yet been released.

President Biden in a statement Sunday morning said:

ALLEN, Texas β€” According to reports, shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. at Allen Premium Outlets located at 820 W. Stacy Road and several law enforcement agencies are responding.

City of Allen and Allen Police Department issued a public safety alert, warning residents to stay away from the area.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives office in Dallas called the situation an active shooter incident. In a tweet at 4:30 p.m., the agency said, β€œATF personnel are responding to the active shooter incident at Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, TX. Allen Police Department is the point of contact and will release more information as it becomes available.”

Rep. Keith Self tweeted:

“We are devastated by the tragic news of the shootings that took place at the Allen Premium Outlets today. Our prayers are with the victims and their families and all law enforcement on the scene.

This is an ongoing situation, but Allen PD has full control of the scene. A shooter is down and there are multiple casualties. They are continuing to work to ensure the scene is safe. The public is being asked to stay away from that area while this investigation continues.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a statement following the shooting, saying, β€œOur hearts go out to the people of Allen, Texas tonight in this unspeakable tragedy.”
