Collin County continues to attract both educators and students. Below is a list of some of the higher education options available:
1. Collin College
For residents of Collin County, the name synonymous with college education is Collin College. With campuses in Plano, Frisco and McKinney, Collin College serves nearly 52,000 credit and continuing education students annually. It offers more than 100 degrees and certificates and is the only public college in Collin County.
Collin College is also a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
2. Dallas Baptist University
With almost 3,000 adult and graduate students, DBU has one of the oldest adult education programs in Texas. Their Collin County presence is in Plano on Dallas Pkwy
Some of you may not be aware that Dallas Baptist University opened DBU North in Frisco in 2006. DBU North offers a full rotation of classes leading to the completion of undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, Management, Psychology, and Communication, as well as graduate degrees in Business Administration (MBA), Management (MAM), Education (MED), School Counseling (MEDSC), and Counseling (MAC).
3. SMU Plano
Southern Methodist University has a well established campus in Plano that offers programs in Counseling and Dispute Resolution, Professional Game Development, Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE), Marketing Certificate and Summer Youth programs.
It is located conveniently in Legacy Park on Tennyson Parkway between Preston Road and the Dallas North Tollway.
4. UNT New College Frisco
One of the biggest names in Texas public education is University of North Texas (UNT). Seeing the growth opportunities and demand in Collin County, they recently started âUNT New Collegeâ in Frisco on Internet Blvd – northwest corner of the North Dallas Tollway and the Sam Rayburn Tollway.
Some of the courses offered are in Business, Educational Leadership, Qualitative Research in Education, Music, Information Systems, Business Statistics, Operations Management, Interpersonal/Organizational Studies, Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services and topics in Journalism and Mass Media

5. Pepperdine University
Last and newest on the list is Pepperdine University. It is a private university based out of Malibu, California. In its first move outside of California, Pepperdine will be expanding the executive MBA program to Collin County. This will be done in partnership with Emerge Education. The program is expected to hold its first semester in the fall of 2016.
With such variety of courses and programs and flexibility of timings, Collin County is positioned well for the long term especially with growth in relocations, new business investment and resulting population growth. It should be able to accommodate needs of freshmen to senior-level management executives and directors.
