BCA (Business Council for the Arts) which is based in Dallas Texas has launched Leadership Arts Institute in Collin and Denton counties of Texas. The goal is to develop the next generation of business leaders in the field of arts by providing training in leadership, nonprofit board best practices. It also imparts knowledge about issues affecting cultural organizations in the North Texas area.
BCA applied for grant through the King Foundation, which is an organization that distributes more than $2 million each year to charities that serve the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
A 9-month inaugural Leadership Arts class for Collin County began in September 2015 and has been able to bring organizations and business leaders together in downtown Plano.ย It hopes to continue to cater to business and academic professionals, arts leaders and local artists who live or work in Allen, Plano, Richardson, Frisco, McKinney, Carrollton, Denton and beyond surrounding areas.
About: A program of Business Council for the Arts, Leadership Arts Institute (LAI) was founded in 1989 at the request of businessman and philanthropist Ray Nasher, to develop the next generation of business leaders for the arts in North Texas. Each year, a limited number of business professionals are selected for LAI.
