Plano has landed another huge employer. JPMorgan Chase announced they will be moving 6,000 workers to a new office campus near the southwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and State Highway 121. They signed a letter of intent to build at Legacy West and construction is expected to begin sometime in year 2016. The project is expected to total more than 1 million square feet.
JP Morgan Chase has been looking for a space in northern suburbs of Dallas for some time with a goal to consolidate its North Texas operations into a corporate office complex. The $2 billion Legacy West development — also home to Toyota and Liberty Mutual Insurance — caught their attention.
Mortgage giant Fannie Mae announced earlier this year that they would move more than 1,000 workers to Plano, Texas as well.
JP Morgan’s new office plan and move will take a couple off years to complete.
More than 16,000 people are expected to be working in the Legacy West project, making it one of the largest new job centers in the state within a year or two.
