San Antonio supermarket chain H-E-B is charging into the Dallas-Fort Worth market by acquiring six Sun Fresh Market stores.
Four of the stores are in Dallas, one in McKinney, and one in Grapevine.
Sun Fresh Markets, based in Carrollton, is closing these six stores, which were divested in late 2014 by Albertsons and Safeway, Tom Thumb’s parent.
H-E-B already has stores in Burleson, Waxahachie, Ennis, Granbury, Corsicana and Cleburne. It operates Central Markets in Fort Worth, Southlake, Dallas and Plano. According to their website, H-E-B is privately owned by the Butt family and has more than 350 stores in Texas and northeast Mexico.
