Rebecca Wyant-Miller of Dallas is a chemistry student at Collin College. She received the distinction from a pool of more than 1,900 applicants and was awarded a $1,250 scholarship and a special medallion. The program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and administered by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society.
Wyant-Miller plans to transfer to The University of Texas at Dallas and pursue a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. Ultimately, she plans to attend medical school and become an anesthesiologist.
Awarded the 2015-2016 Collin College Chemistry Department Scholarship, Wyant-Miller served as the vice president of leadership for the Alpha Mu Tao Chapter of PTK last year. She helped design a leadership camp and served as a camp leader for the college’s Leadership Empowerment and Development (LEAD) program and completed a Center for the Advanced Studies in Mathematics and Natural Sciences (CASMNS) project on genetic variants between ferns in different areas of the southwest with Dr. Nelson Rich, professor of biology.
