The comptroller’s office will hold an Unclaimed Property Search event in Mckinney on July 20th to help people process their property claims in person. There is currently about $4 billion in missing money waiting to be claimed.
The goal of Unclaimed Property Program is to increase public awareness about the State’s unclaimed property funds. To achieve this goal, the Comptroller’s Outreach Staff participates in a variety of public events across the State. During such public events people can search for their money, complete and expedite their claims for processing at our office.
The state of Texas does not charge to search for unclaimed property on its website http://comptroller.texas.gov/up/ – however it may charge a certain % as handling fee for processing any claims over $100.
