Three Frisco ISD high school students won the state’s highest honor for artwork at the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) in April in San Antonio.
More than 20 FISD students qualified to compete in the event after advancing from regional competition.
Entries are judged based on originality of concept, technical expertise, understanding of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for visual art and the interpretation of the student’s stated intent.
The event, hosted by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA), is also an opportunity for art teachers and students to meet and grow artistically and personally. They participate in professional workshops, lectures, slide presentations, demonstrations and outdoor sketching opportunities.
The following students were awarded a Superior Rating IV at the state competition and received medals. Winners of the top award, the coveted Gold Seal medallion, are also listed.
