Collin College will host “Deaf, Deaf World: A Simulation of Deaf Culture” from 1-5 p.m. as well as a silent dinner with entertainment featuring internationally renowned Deaf performing artist Peter Cook from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 at the Spring Creek Campus Living Legends Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy. in Plano.
Open to the public, the daytime event is free and offers participants the opportunity to experience life in a completely Deaf environment, learn basic American Sign Language (ASL), and learn about Deaf history and civil rights for the Deaf community. The afternoon event also offers Deaf theatre, an ASL poetry slam and local vendor booths with unique items.

Tickets and advance registration by April 9 are required for the evening silent dinner (optional) and entertainment featuring a variety of Deaf performers including Peter Cook, who incorporates ASL, pantomime, storytelling, acting and movement in his performances. Tickets for the dinner and show are $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 5-17. Tickets for the performance only are $20, and children under 17 are free with an adult. Proceeds from the event will go to the Collin College interpreter student scholarship fund.
